Lightning Lab2026-10-22 03:17:24Lightning Labs CTO urges lnd, btcd and related node users to update softwareLightning Labs Chief Technology Officer Olaoluwa Osuntokun said users of lnd, btcd, tapd and litd should update their binaries or rebuild with Go 1.27.3 because of CVE-2026-111943. In a post on X, Osuntokun said the issue is tied to a compromised certificate authority and could affect the security of the related software. The warning covers several Bitcoin and Lightning ecosystem node tools maintained or used alongside Lightning Labs software. No other mitigation details were provided in the source beyond updating binaries or rebuilding with the specified Go version. The notice was issued publicly through Osuntokun’s social media account.20
Zcash2026-10-21 08:35:20Zcash targets Nov. 5 for NU7 mainnet upgrade at block 3,543,405Zcash developer Sean Bowe has submitted a proposal to set the activation height for the network’s NU7 mainnet upgrade at block 3,543,405, which is expected to fall on Nov. 5. The proposed height has already received agreement at a ZIP editors meeting, though the proposal itself has not yet been merged and still needs to be incorporated into the upgrade specification and node software. Under the current plan, NU7 would reduce Zcash’s target block interval from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. It would also temporarily remove 60% of transaction fees from circulation. The upgrade proposal includes another operational change: disabling v4 transactions. That change carries a direct consequence for users with funds still sitting in the Sprout shielded pool. Once the upgrade takes effect, those funds would no longer be spendable, meaning affected holders need to migrate them before activation. The proposal remains pending final integration, but the expected activation date and technical changes are now clearer.50
Zcash2026-10-21 08:16:01Zcash NU7 upgrade cuts block time to 25 secondsZcash’s NU7 upgrade is centered on reducing the time between blocks from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, a change that would cut the wait for three transaction confirmations from nearly four minutes to about 75 seconds. The upgrade is already running on the Zcash testnet and is awaiting final integration into node software. NU7 also includes two other changes. First, 60% of the fees collected in each block will be removed from circulation, with those tokens set to start returning to miners around February 2031. Second, Zcash’s original Sprout privacy system will be shut down completely. Any funds still held in Sprout must be moved out before the upgrade is activated, or they will become unusable. The update combines faster confirmation times with fee-handling changes and the retirement of an older privacy system.80
